About the Artist

Cynthia pic3.jpg

The child of artists, Cynthia has been creating art all of her life. She works in many mediums, from acrylic painting, oil pastels, and encaustic, to ceramics and mosaics, to paper making and assemblage, to photography, printmaking, and mixed media. For the past few years, her focus has been using the encaustic medium, often combining it with her photography and/or mixed media elements. Her passion is to merge and combine different techniques and mediums to create something unique, to always be enhancing and exploring her knowledge of a material, then pushing the boundaries of that material. She has learned at the side of other artists and had instruction at University of California San Francisco, the Art Academy, San Francisco, and Laney College, Oakland.

Cynthia has created commissioned pieces in painting, mixed media, and photography. She has had showings of her art in galleries and art shows in California, Kansas, and Arizona, and has received numerous ribbons for her work at the Amador County Fair. She has been on the board of the Amador County Artists Association, and of the Oakland Studio One. She has been the Gallery Coordinator for Amador Arts Gallery in Sutter Creek, Studio One in Oakland, CA, The Art Store Gallery, Oakland, CA, and Mighty Cup and Spoon, Glendale, AZ. She was also a member of the Sutter Creek Gallery Cooperative and Local Gallery Cooperative in Plymouth, CA.

Cynthia teaches classes to children and adults, focusing on the aspects of process and play rather than just technique as she believes we are all artists in need of an outlet for our creativity.
