TONI CARRANO

About the Artist

I enjoy graphite and drawing in general because it’s my meditation. I also enjoy working with the bold and bright colors, primaries are my favorite. Markers, colored pencils and any paint: oil, acrylic, watercolor or gauche.

Photography has always been incorporated with my work as a means to catalog and market it. I had a camera in my hands before I held a pencil. Photography has become a medium in itself for me now, and I really enjoy it! Referring to it later for a rendering or for inspiration – it’s a frozen moment that I can go back to later. In addition, I continue film development and printing photographs in my old fashioned darkroom. Black and white is still classic.

I’ve believed that art and science go hand in hand. Now more than ever in the age of computers, digital cameras and digital technology. Color is definitely a science, compared to mixing chemicals for a compound. Combining a unique blue or purple.

Executing a piece of art from an idea in my mind and then bringing it to completion is rewarding in itself. Like magic!

My style continues to evolve as I love experimenting and learning different mediums and techniques. I continue to study and practice art, incorporating it into therapy. I’m also a certified art therapist and life coach.
