about the artist

Painting is a creative action – it is an expression of an artist’s response to life.

I have always been a keen observer of my surroundings, gathering images and impressions of places near and far. Dramatic lighting and interesting patterns play an important role in my artwork.

My selection of transparent pigments and techniques of application, yield the fresh, glowing colors that have become my trademark. I often use many glazes of watercolor to build up rich, vibrant colors and capture the glow of light on the subjects.

It is said, “An artist has an eye for beauty.” I feel it is more than the eye alone, it is an impression of the subject on the artist, the thoughts evoked and how the artist interprets with paint and brush, what the eyes have seen.
