About the Artist

Kay Verstraete is a long term resident of the midwest, now living in Surprise, Arizona. She renewed her love of art after retiring as a life-long educator: a career that spanned every level from kindergarten through college, and classroom teacher to Superintendent of Schools. Since leaving the world of education, she has traveled extensively with her husband visiting 97 countries to date and enjoying great works of art wherever they’ve traveled throughout the world.

Kay has worked with both oils and watercolor, but has developed a passion for soft pastels and their rich colors. A special interest in landscapes and portraits illustrates the subtleness of pastels, which she loves. She displays regularly at various venues throughout the Phoenix valley, is an active member of the Sun City Grand Art Club, the Neu Art Group, the Arizona Pastel Artists Association and Vanguard Artists, in addition to her membership with Ground Floor Artists. Kay now enjoys an active and vibrant retired life in the world of art.
