About the Artist

I grew up in Maine and New Hampshire. Both my parents were artists so there was always an appreciation of art, nature, beauty. My father instilled in me a sense of beauty through Sunday excursions: walking the deep woods looking for ferns and mosses, walking on a stormy beach etc. This taught me the importance of observation, stillness and inner peace, which became an important focus of my painting.

After teaching art and special education to high school students for many years, I retired to become a full time artist and teacher in my community.

I love color and texture and often don’t know what will emerge as I paint. I let my intuition lead me, and trust that there is something deep inside that longs to be expressed.

My art is about opening to spirit, to light, to life. It has been a journey of letting go of all my ideas about what art is and learning to paint from that deep well of intuitive knowledge. It is a process that requires a willingness to step into the unknown and the ability to relax in periods of uncertainty. It is about trusting that the creative intelligence will have its way..
